Pebble adds new health and fitness features in new smartwatch

pebble-time-2Pebble is perhaps the grandfather of the modern smartwatch era. The company got its start with a Kickstarter campaign and they are sticking with that model for funding new models.

The company has launched a Kickstarter campaign to develop and launch four new products, the Pebble 2, Pebble Time 2, Pebble Core for Runners and Pebble Core for Hackers.

Pebble has announced four new products in this funding campaign. Launched just a few hours ago, the $1 million target has been blown away with pledges already topping $5.8 million with another 35 days remaining in the campaign.

Pebble 2 and Time 2

The new Pebble smartwatches serve up notifications, show your schedule, and let you perform simple tasks with the click of a button.

With built-in activity tracking, heart rate monitor, and our updated suite of Health tools, Pebble is the only thing you’ll ever need on your wrist.

Pebble 2 and Time 2 come standard with multi-day battery life, water resistance down to 30 metres, and e-paper displays that make them readable indoors and out. The Pebble 2 and Time 2 work with iOS and Android smartphones.

The Pebble 2 retails at US$99 and the Time 2 will sell for US$169.

Pebble Core

The Core streams music from Spotify and syncs GPS data with Runkeeper, Strava and Under Armour Record. The Core lets you leave your phone at home when you’re out running or riding. Pebble says it’s the first 3G, truly connected ultra-wearable.

Pricing starts at US$69.

Pebble Core for Hackers

The Core for Hackers is an Android computer that fits on your keychain to become your magic button for anything. Once it’s programmed you can call an Uber with a click, track your pet from across the world, pilot a drone from the web or execute many other actions.

Pricing starts at US$69.

You can contribute to the campaign via Kickstarter with contribution levels ranging from US$69 to US$339. Products are scheduled to be available from September 2016.
