Whenever a new product category emerges some early leaders emerge that have a strong start but then struggle as other companies either out innovate or have stronger marketing.
Jawbone seems to have hit that point. The company has put their speaker business on the market and stopped production of their fitness trackers.
My first tracker was a Jawbone UP but multiple product failures – the rubber sheath protecting the internal components stretched rendering the device useless.
My partner and I had no fewer than five Jambone devices fail.
It’s always sad when a company collapses. People lose their jobs, dreams a shattered and customers can be left in a lurch.
But this is the reality of markets. Products and companies come and go.
And it seems that it’s Jawbone’s time to go.
