Although you can wear your Fitbit tracker 24/7 there are times you take it off such as when you shower or put it on its charger. And, if you’re in a hurry or distracted, you might leave home and forget to put it back on.
Fortunately, there is a Plan B so you can continue to track your activity. You can add your smartphone as a tracker.
This feature works on the iPhone and selected Android smartphones. You can check if your phone is compatible here.
Here’s how you do it.
From your Fitbit app main screen, tap on the account button in the bottom-left corner of the screen.
Then, tap on “Set Up a Device”.
At the bottom of the list of Fitbit devices, you’ll see “MobileTrack”. Tap on that.
If all goes well, you’ll see a confirmation screen that tells you you’ll be able to track the basics using your iPhone.
Now the MobileTrack device will be listed as a tracker.
If you’re carrying your phone while wearing a tracker, the Fitbit app is smart enough to not double count your activity.
