The difference between racing and training

The article compares the racing paces of various runners in recent 10,000m events.

When I train, I tend to try and keep a constant pace, unless I’m doing a specific session where changing paces is part of the program. But Farah and other racers keep changing things in order to thin the herd.

As a mid to back of the packj runner, my plan is usually to maintain a constant pace in order to hit a target time. But it’s intersting to see what the pros do, in order to win.
