Reviewing 2014

January has been a rest month for me. Although I ran the Two Bays Trail Run in January, I was tapering before the race and I reduced my mileage significantly so I could recover from the race and give my body a chance to recover. But it’s also a good chance to look at my progress between 2013 and 2014.

2013 was my first year of running. I started 2013 with the C25K program. I slowly increased my mileage through that year.

There were a couple of months where I got close to 100km for the month. I travelled quite a lot during the early part of the year. Even though I was a little inconsistent, I was happy with my progress.

2014 was about increasing mileage and getting faster. In my view, endurance comes before speed. I increased my average mileage by about 25km per month and improved my speed.

Goals for 2015

For 2015, I have a few goals. I want to complete a marathon, average at least 100km per month and get my average speed for the year down to 6:00/km. I’m on target despite lower mileage and a slow January – the Two Bays event was slow. But February is improving and marathon preparation will get my mileage up. I’m entered into the Gold Coast Marathon in July.
