I’m not a fan of exercising with my smartphone. When I’m running or riding my bike, I like to get away from everything and everyone. It’s a chance for me to disconnect and get lost in my own thoughts.
But, there are times when I need to carry my phone, such as on a long ride or run when I could be in difficult surroundings. Many trail runs put you in isolated environments and it’s important to be able to call of help or to be easily located.
Belkin’s Clip-Fit Armband [Affiliate Link] lets you easily carry your iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s for those occasions.
The Clip-Fit comprises of two parts: a case for the iPhone and an arm strap.
The Clip-Fit’s case snaps neatly over the back of the iPhone. None of the buttons, switches or cameras are covered so you can keep using your iPhone. I’ve taken to leaving my iPhone in the case even when not using the arm band as it offers some extra protection when carrying the phone.
The back of the case has a solid plastic slot that’s used for attaching the case to the arm band. However, it doesn’t add much bulk or weight to the iPhone and it can still comfortably slip into my pocket when it’s not on the arm band.
One thing to note is the Clip-Fit case doesn’t add any weatherproofing or protection for the display. There are other cases for the iPhone that offer protection from the rain and other elements.
The Arm Band
I have to preface this saying I’m not a fan of arm bands. I find that most of them, particularly on long runs, can move around and cause chafing which is, at the very least, annoying and can lead to significant discomfort.
One several runs, the Clip-Fit’s arm band sat comfortably although it took a little while to get it placed perfectly. The synthetic inner surface is seamless so there’s a reduced chance of chafing from internal stitching.
Once the case is slipped over your biceps, it’s secured by looping one end of the strap through a loop. It’s held fast with Velcro.
The clip section that the case slips over is very solid and held the iPhone in place. While out on a run, I was able to easily remove the iPhone to shoot a photo or two – there’s no point being out in the world if you can’t stop to enjoy it – and then clip it back on.
Although I’m not a fan of taking my iPhone out for every run, there are times when I need to have it with me. I could use a belt or stash my phone in my hydration pack but I don’t carry those all the time.
The Belkin Clip-Fit Armband for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s is comfortable, easy to use and, once I was used to having it on, wasn’t noticeable.
